Mt. Rainier

Early Saturday I drove from Roseville, Ca up to a hotel in Washington near Mt. St. Helens. Since I arrived much earlier than expected I drove over to the Mt. St. Helens observation point and took some photos. I’d never been before so I wanted to check it out. One day I’ll have to come back and spend more time hiking the trails. Perhaps I’ll get to climb to the top of the crater some day. On Sunday morning Tim, […]

Day at the Beach

Today I decided to take Jaidee on a road trip along the coast to see how she’d like the beach. There’s a beach in Half Moon Bay that allows dogs so that’s where we headed. It’s been up in the 90’s the last few days here, but a storm is supposed to come in tomorrow so it was forecast to be much cooler today. I wasn’t sure what the weather along the coast would be like, but it turned out […]

Jaidee

For the last 15 or so months I’ve missed having a small dog to play with so I started looking around about a month ago to see if I could find one to bring home. I wanted to get a small dog since I’m in an apartment at the moment and I’ve never been a big dog person anyway. They’re fun and have great personalities, but I just prefer the smaller dogs. I checked with the local shelters and adoption […]

Wat Pho & Wat Aurn – Bangkok, Thailand

A few days before heading back to California Rotchana and I decided to do a little sightseeing at a couple of the temples in Bangkok. Temples are called Wat in Thailand and the two we went to see were Wat Pho & Wat Arun. Wat Pho was our first stop for the day. This temple is famous for it’s 160 foot long “Reclining Buddha”. The complex also has over 1,000 Buddha statues and is home to a working Buddhist monastery. […]

What Happened to Winter?

Yesterday I thought I’d take advantage of a rare opportunity to drive up over a couple of Sierra passes that are normally closed by now. Winter storms normally move in during November, drop a bunch of snow, and the roads over the passes close down until late Spring. Not this year. There has been very little in the way of snow the past couple of months so the mountain passes remain open to traffic. I left around 10:00am and headed […]

Disney Christmas Past

I was organizing some of my older photos and came across a folder that had some photos from a trip to Disneyland a couple of years ago that I never processed. Here are a bunch from that visit:

Hurricane Ridge

Last week was Thanksgiving and I was invited to come up to Washington to visit a long time high school friend and his family. My family was busy with plans of their own so I took Tim up on his offer to spend the holiday with them. The drive is about 820 miles and I had planned on leaving on Tuesday with a stop in Portland before finishing the drive to Silverdale the next morning. Unfortunately the weather was poor […]

Almost Winter

Yesterday I took a drive up to the Tahoe area. It snowed a bit the day before, but the weather was supposed to be nice so I thought it would be a good time to go up and spend the day. While I was headed up the highway I saw signs warning of chain controls up ahead, but by the time I got to the higher elevations the roads had been cleared and the controls were no longer in effect. […]

Thai-ing the Knot!

My most recent visit to Thailand gave me a crash course in a piece of Thai culture that I knew little about. Below is a description of what took place at a Thai wedding: The day started long before the sun came up with the bride to be probably not even sleeping the night before. She was busy with the other women from the village preparing food for the next day. As with most Thai customs, food is an important […]

Marble Temple & Grand Palace – Bangkok, Thailand

I’d spent the last two and a half months in Thailand and had failed to go visit two of the places I’d been wanting to see since my second visit in April – The Marble Temple and the Grand Palace in Bangkok. Bangkok has many temples and historical sites, but I had been wanting to see these two in particular, but always found myself doing other things. On one of my last days in Bangkok I finally made it over […]
