Santa Cruz

Last Monday Rotchana and I took Victoria to Santa Cruz for the day. A friend from work brought his wife along, too. We left home about 6:00am for the 3 1/2 hour drive to Felton, which is a small town up in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We were going to catch a train that takes a 45 minute ride through the redwood trees and ends up at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The drive went smoothly enough, but had we […]

Highway 1

Last week I had a couple of days off in the middle of the week and we were itching to get out of the house so we decided to go on a road trip. I’ve always enjoyed driving along the coast down Highway 1 and I was anxious to have Rotchana experience it for the first time so we packed up our bags and headed out. We left late in the morning on Wednesday and made our way to Monterey. […]

Bath Time

Victoria continues to grow and change on a daily basis. Just going back and looking at older photos reminds us of how much she’s changing. She’s only 36 days old and it’s gone by quickly. I imagine time will only continue to fly by. We gave her a bath the other night and she really enjoyed the water. Now that she’s not sleeping as much and seems to be more aware of her surroundings her personality is starting to really […]

Almost One Month

28, 978, 364 & 19. What do these numbers represent? 28 days, approximately 978 ounces of milk & formula, 364 diapers, and 19 hours of sleep on average per day. Those numbers pretty much sum up what Victoria has been up to the first 28 days of her short life with us. Victoria is becoming more alert and aware of her surroundings more and more each day. Lately she’s started to giggle while sleeping and has quite the smile, especially […]

Getting Settled

It’s been quite an adjustment the last 5 days. What used to be a fairly regular routine has been completely turned upside down, but there are no complaints. Everyone warned me prior to the baby arriving that sleep would no longer be an option. That has turned out to be true to a degree, but surprisingly it has also been much less of a problem than had been anticipated. Victoria’s first night at home was about what we expected. Clean […]

Trip to Tahoe

Last week Rotchana had an appointment with the doctor up in Sacramento early in the morning. She was diagnosed with gestational diabetes about a month ago and this was a followup to see how her blood sugar numbers were doing, as well as do the routine prenatal checkup. Everything went smoothly and the doctor was pleased with her numbers so there wouldn’t be any need for insulin injections. The only negative to the whole diabetes diagnosis is that Rotchana is […]

Beach Trip & San Francisco

It seems as though my days off lately have been filled with doctor appointments and the occasional real estate photo work, so having a free day yesterday was a nice change of pace. Our day started off with sleeping in a bit. I remember a time that waking up at 9:00am was considered early, but now it seems to be a luxury. It’s such a nice feeling when an alarm clock isn’t blaring in your ear. We took our time […]

San Francisco Treat

One of the many things Rotchana was looking forward to once she arrived in the US was to go to San Francisco. She’d seen pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge and wanted to see it in person. Luckily, we had a break in the rain last week so we took advantage and spent the day sightseeing. We stopped off at Treasure Island so she could see the skyline from across the bay. It was a little hazy out, but she […]

Mt. Rainier

Early Saturday I drove from Roseville, Ca up to a hotel in Washington near Mt. St. Helens. Since I arrived much earlier than expected I drove over to the Mt. St. Helens observation point and took some photos. I’d never been before so I wanted to check it out. One day I’ll have to come back and spend more time hiking the trails. Perhaps I’ll get to climb to the top of the crater some day. On Sunday morning Tim, […]

Day at the Beach

Today I decided to take Jaidee on a road trip along the coast to see how she’d like the beach. There’s a beach in Half Moon Bay that allows dogs so that’s where we headed. It’s been up in the 90’s the last few days here, but a storm is supposed to come in tomorrow so it was forecast to be much cooler today. I wasn’t sure what the weather along the coast would be like, but it turned out […]
