Breaking Ground

We’ve finally hit a spot in our lives where we feel like we’re going to stick around for a while and not move. With my work I’ve always felt that moving was a part of the gig. This is our 3rd location in about 5 years, but I think we only have 1 move left. We put a deposit down on a new construction home and should be moving in by late October. We’ve picked the lot and the floor […]

Victoria’s 6th Birthday

April 13th was Victoria’s 6th Birthday! Her previous birthdays were mainly celebrated with family, but this year she had friends from school and wanted a party. We started the day off by walking to a nearby park that was hosting an Easter Egg Hunt. The park was sectioned off for each of the different age groups and thousands of eggs and candy were spread out in each area. Within each area there were 3 glitter eggs containing special prizes. Victoria […]

Shoshone Falls – Twin Falls, Idaho

It’s been a while since we’ve taken a road trip so today we decided to drive a couple of hours down the highway to Twin Falls, Idaho. I took a quick trip there back in May, but the girls were in Thailand and missed out. I thought the girls would enjoy seeing Shoshone Falls and we needed a good excuse to get out of the house. We didn’t hit the highway until almost noon and arrived in Twin Falls around […]

Quick Road Trip

The other day the girls wanted to take a drive up the hills so we headed north up towards McCall. It’s about a 100 mile drive that winds along the Payette River. Unfortunately, both girls fell asleep about 15 minutes into the drive, but it was still a nice drive. I stopped a couple of times to take some photos and at one point Rotchana woke up so she could have her picture taken. She promptly fell asleep once we […]

South Lake Tahoe

My friend Tim and his family, minus one daughter, came down from Washington to spend a few days at South Lake Tahoe. His daughter Melissa is turning 21 soon and chose the vacation. They rented a small house not far from the lake and had another longtime friend and her family stay with them. Rotchana, Victoria and I came up on their last full day there to visit. South Lake Tahoe is only about 100 miles from home so it’s […]

Take a Hike

I received an invitation from my high school friend Tim that I’ve kept in touch with over the years. Last year I drove up to Washington to hike on Mt. Ranier with him and his son and one of his daughters. This year he applied for a permit to hike up to the summit of Mount St. Helens and wanted to know if I was up for it. I jumped at the chance and looked forward to the challenge. Last […]

Santa Cruz

Last Monday Rotchana and I took Victoria to Santa Cruz for the day. A friend from work brought his wife along, too. We left home about 6:00am for the 3 1/2 hour drive to Felton, which is a small town up in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We were going to catch a train that takes a 45 minute ride through the redwood trees and ends up at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The drive went smoothly enough, but had we […]

Highway 1

Last week I had a couple of days off in the middle of the week and we were itching to get out of the house so we decided to go on a road trip. I’ve always enjoyed driving along the coast down Highway 1 and I was anxious to have Rotchana experience it for the first time so we packed up our bags and headed out. We left late in the morning on Wednesday and made our way to Monterey. […]

Trip to Tahoe

Last week Rotchana had an appointment with the doctor up in Sacramento early in the morning. She was diagnosed with gestational diabetes about a month ago and this was a followup to see how her blood sugar numbers were doing, as well as do the routine prenatal checkup. Everything went smoothly and the doctor was pleased with her numbers so there wouldn’t be any need for insulin injections. The only negative to the whole diabetes diagnosis is that Rotchana is […]

Beach Trip & San Francisco

It seems as though my days off lately have been filled with doctor appointments and the occasional real estate photo work, so having a free day yesterday was a nice change of pace. Our day started off with sleeping in a bit. I remember a time that waking up at 9:00am was considered early, but now it seems to be a luxury. It’s such a nice feeling when an alarm clock isn’t blaring in your ear. We took our time […]
